The Women’s Fund on Thursday, February 11, will host a forum on solutions to homelessness. The event will focus on the State of Utah’s strategy that has essentially solved chronic homelessness there while saving millions of taxpayers’ dollars. The forum is a collaboration between TWF, the Record Searchlight and the Shasta Community Health Center.
Lloyd Pendleton, past director of Utah’s Homeless Task Force and lead author of the state’s 10-year strategic plan to end homelessness, is the forum’s featured speaker. As of the January 2015 point-in-time homeless count, Utah had reduced its chronic homeless population by 91 percent. Lloyd, who left employment with the State of Utah last summer, now consults with communities throughout the United States sharing Utah’s success story.
The forum will be held at Sequoia Middle School’s McLaughlin Auditorium from noon to 1:30pm. February’s forum is the 16th presented by The Women’s Fund and the second in collaboration with the Record Searchlight.
